Pay Feature
The objective for this pay feature is to address the problems faced by contractors in the construction industry concerning their lack of pay visibility.
-
This pay feature is part of an Enterprise SaaS Application Suite aimed at construction industry. A common practice in the construction industry is for a company to hire contractors to complete projects under the company’s name.
Contractors typically have low to no visibility of the pay they receive for the work they perform. This payments feature solves this issue by showing contactors their pay in real time, allowing them to view pay history, and even submit disputes.
-
My team for this project consisted of an API architect, a front end developer, and a product manager, and myself as the lead designer.
-
I served as the lead designer for this feature and was responsible for the end to end design process.
I followed design thinking methodologies to to deliver this payment feature and meet both business and user requirements.

With multiple applications comes multiple users. For this project I developed three user personas to represent the main user types interacting with the new pay feature.

Better Pay Visibility
Contractors are provided tablet by the company to manage their assigned work. The payment feature shows payment for their completed work in real time.
It allows contractors to track their pay activities and dispute any incorrect payments.

Pay Disputes
Through user research, my team and I discovered that contractors needed a way to quickly communicate when they were not paid the correct amount.
This feature included the ability to submit a pay activity dispute from the pay details page.
The pay activity disputes submitted by contractors then needed to be reviewed by their supervisors.
Supervisors are able to approve or deny disputes and provide a reason for denial.
Contractors are able to see the status of their disputes in real time.
